10 Fundamentals for a Better Life

10 Fundamentals for Life

1.      Read the Book of Mormon. Every day! It will help you have a better day and it will help you stay focused.
I know that by reading the Book of Mormon everyday it has helped me have a greater understanding of things and people.
Challenge: Read the Book of Mormon in 30 days. (Yes it can be done! I have seen it done)

2.      Create a Mormon.org profile.
Millions of people look at that site all of the time. It is good to have one so that people can see how we incorporate out faith in to our lives.
Challenge: Share it with a friend.
(It is a great way to share your testimony with people without voicing it out loud.)

3.      Learn about your family history.
Knowing our family history can open so many doors to us. Also it helps us become closer to our loved ones. Family history is also a wonderful way to do temple work. When we do our family history we know who we a doing the work for and it makes it more personal.
Mal. 4:6, Rom. 14:9, 1 Cor. 15:29, 1 Peter 4:6, D&C 2:1-3
Challenge: Talk to your grandparents and great-grandparents about their childhoods or stories about their parents. (Write down the stories) Go on family search.org.

4.      Go to the Temple as much as you can!!
The temple is a wonderful place for revelation. It has been my safe haven for the past few years. Don’t wait until you cannot get to a temple to want to go inside. Do it now while you have so many to choose from.
The temple is why I am still here on my mission today. It helps with those huge life changing decisions. Take the advantage of the temples now!
Challenge: Take a question to the temple. Take family names to the temple and do the work for them. Always strive to be worthy to enter the Temple at any moment.

5.      Write in your journals!
If you do not have a journal, get one!!!!!
Your journal is a way for your future generation to know what you went through growing up and how you dealt with it.
It is their way to read you testimony and to get to know you so much more! The scriptures are journals of the prophets. If they had not written we would not have them. Who know some of you could be Apostles or Prophets someday.
Write in your journals your wonderful testimony.
Callenge: Write down 5 different miracles or blessings you see each day. (Yes they have to be different each day.)

6.      Find your own Sacred Grove!
a.       Find a place that you can call your own. If you are having a bad day or just need some time alone. Somewhere that you can just offer up your soul to you Heavenly Father.
As a missionary we don’t really have any time alone unless one of you is in the rest room. So find a spot where if it is still surrounded by people you can block them all out and chat with Heavenly Father.
Challenge: Have your own Joseph Smith moment. (In a vocal prayer come to him with a question about the church in your Sacred Grove)

7.      Moroni 10:8-18, D&C 46:8-33
Find and develop those gifts and talents that God has given you. Ask for and strive to find more. Each and every one has them! (D&C 6:7)
Challenge: Use 1 of those talents or gifts every day for a month! (Different 1 for each day of a week, they you can use them again.)

8.      PMG Chapter 6 Christ like Attributes
Tread about the Christ like attributes and apply them into your life. Strive to become more like him!
When we Strive to achieve the attributes of Christ we become more like him and closer to our Heavenly Father.
We also learn more about ourselves!
Challenge: PMG pg.126
Do the assessment and work on them every day! (PMG = Preach My Gospel)

9.      Share your testimony every day!
As we share our testimonies it gives the Holy Ghost a chance to testify of the truth. It also helps out testimonies grow stronger and stronger.
Bearing out testimonies plants a seed in the hearts of those that are listening! When we bear out testimony it gives them a chance to use their agency about whether to accept or reject the truth.
Challenge: Write your testimony in a Book of Mormon and prayerfully give it to someone, or give it to the missionaries to give to someone!
(Putting your testimony in a Book of Mormon personalizes it.)

10.   2 Nephi 33:6
Develop a personal relationship with your Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ!
As you do all of these things # 10 will come!
When you have a personal relationship with your Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ you will be able to feel them near you and you will know exactly who you are and what your purpose is!
Challenge: Write a letter telling me how this has helped you or how it has changed those around you. Share what miracles or blessings you have seen. And continue on with them. Don’t stop or give up. I know that you can do them.

Most of all continue to do every thing you can to always have the Holy Ghost with you. I can assure you that it is the worst thing to be without the Holy Ghost in your life especially after you have already had him there. Continue to talk to your Heavenly Father! He wants to hear from you! He loves and care for you so much!

I love all of you so much. Continue to be the wonderful sons and daughters of God that you are and stay on the right path. It will take you so much farther than the other one!

Challenge: Share with you families the miracles and blessings you have seen!

I know that if you do these things that the Lord will be with you and you will be able to feel hem close around you!
I know that this gospel is true. I know that Joseph Smith was the Prophet of God and that Thomas S. Monson is the Prophet today! I know that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God translated by Joseph Smith. I know that each one of you are choice sons and daughters of God and that he has a great work ahead for each of you! I know that as long as we do what is right we will be blessed. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

This week has been a little hard. Just have been having some feelings of inadequacy and not knowing how to help some investigators. I just feel a little lost. But I should be all right. It is just a little trial and something that I need to learn. Don’t worry you did not make me upset. I just had to realize that it was an answer to my prayer. And hopefully this is the solution. I got a suitcase on Friday. Thank you!!!!!

Oh good I am glad that he got the letter. And that they are able to use it!!! Did you read it??? What do you think of it?? Will you do those things????

I agree with what she said!!! I have come to realize that when we feel like he is ignoring us or just not answering in the time that we want Him to. It is then that He is pondering exactly what we need and when we need it and who we need to be there for us. He wants us to be happy and so He takes time to know exactly what needs to be done.

That sounds like a very eventful class!!!!! I wish I could have a little bit of that in my classes;)

We are going to the church history tour tomorrow. It is a mission thing so half of the mission is going on Tuesday and the other half is going on Wednesday. I am so excited!!! I hope that I will be able to get some of the same pictures. It was just a picture of a Catholic Church Building. I liked it so I took a picture!!! I like the ones that look really old!!!

Haha I am so looking for ward to meeting that bird.

Tracting is ok. Not the best. But I will get over that just have to keep doing it. We are trying to find so me to teach!!! Hopefully we will find some soon.

Ya I was able to go down for Rhys’ baptism!!!! I have waited 5 month for this baptism. It was so great to be there and to see him so happy. And I just could not leave Rhyl without seeing the wonderful family that I was sent there for. I am so glad that I got to see her. They are great. She gave me my birthday card. In one of them I had a dream catcher. I brought me back to my child hood when you taught me how to make them!! It is so cute!!!! They are absolutely amazing. I just wish that you will get to meet them some day!!!

I love and miss you so much!!!!! I hope you all are well!!!

Love you so much

Dear Wonderful and Beautiful Family,

The pagent was absolutely amazing!!! I wish you could have been here to see it. I am glad that Graham and Chez enjoyed it and that they want to be sealed there. That will be an amazing day!!

I think she liked it but I am not really sure. She doesn’t really show too much emotion. So I can’t really read if she really liked it or if she is just telling us that she did. So I am just going to say that she did;)

They are in the same mission but they are in a different part. I saw them at transfers and they had just gotten there so they have been here for about 2 weeks. I was able to give him my copy that you sent me at the conference last week. He is going to make a copy of it. He had a little bit more information that he lent me to make a copy of. He also said that you could find most of his journals on line. He said that there about 2 of them that are missing because the wives did not want to give them up. I think that they are from Utah but I am not sure.

Oh my goodness the Conference was wonderful!!!! The spirit was so strong in that room. It was like a general conference, only smaller. We got to sit in the front row so they were literally 4 feet away!!! I took so many notes. They talked about not wasting one moment of our missions and that we should make it something that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We should make it something that when we have kids and grand kids that they will ask for stories about our missions. They talked about teaching the Doctrine through the Book of Mormon and believing in the faith of the members and asking them to pray about people for the missionaries to teach. And if they have the faith that they will be able to find someone. At the end Elder Nelson gave us an apostolic blessing. Oh it was absolutely amazing!!! I just love being a missionary!!!!!

Transfers are on 4 Sept. I am not quiet sure yet. Speaking of which I gave you the wrong post code for our flat. It is SK11 8NL.

On Sunday we had a return missionary speak. Guess where he served his mission?? The Czech Republic. Sound Familiar. He also had is old mission president there. Elder and Sister Erwin. Guess who they know. Elder Jackson Probst. They had nothing but good things to say about him when I asked if they knew him. It was great to her that!!

I would like to see them get their patriartical blessing as well. It will be able to help them so much in their lives.

I am glad that she got my letter!!! She is so cute!!!! It is good to hear from my friends!!!

I hear from them every once and a while. When they remember but life is busy so I don’t expect too many!!!

Did I tell you how much I love and miss you!!!!! I am so grateful you all of you influences in my life. You have helped make me who I am today and for that I am eternally grateful.

I am continually amazed at how great missionary work can make you feel. It is all about service. One thing I love doing!!!! I am so grateful for this wonderful opportunity and that I did not pass it up. I now know that President Preston was right when he said that it would be the biggest regret of my life if I went home early. Because I would not be who I am today nor would I have been able to see all of the many miracles around me.

I love you so much and am so grateful for all that you do!!!

I am glad that you got your card!!!! You truly are the best mom in the world!!!! I got my package on Thursday! Thank you so much for everything that was in it. I felt really spoiled!!! I am making the cake today and taking it with me to our zone meeting tomorrow so that I can share it and not have to eat all of it;)
This week has been so crazy!!!!!!!! And so much fun!!! We did a lot of traveling because we had to take Sister Hanson to Manchester so that she could go see the padgent and then go to the mission home for her last night in the mission. I am really going to miss her so much!!!!!
The Padgent was absolutely amazing!!!! I could see our family history throughout the whole thing.  Alfred Cordon was in the middle of it all. Even though they did not say his name you could see where he would have been. The spirit in that room was so strong!! I don’t know how you could ever deny it after that. Unless you have a really hard heart and closed mind. Oh it was magnificent!!! I am so honored to be a part of history!!!
Speaking of Alfred Cordon guess what!!!! There is a senior couple that just came in to this mission this transfer, and their last name is Cordon. I asked Elder Cordon if he had relatives that were from England, and if one of their names were Alfred cordon. He said that it was and that it was his great great grandfather.  Crazy huh!!!!
The Full Mission Conference is on Thursday!!! It is just in Manchester. No I don’t have to travel very far but I am so excited!!!! I can hardly wait! I am about an hour or 2 away from the mission home I think. I am not sure I don’t go there very often.
Ya so jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is absolutely amazing!!!!!!! Hehe next time get something signed for me;) hehehehehehe
That bird sounds like a hoot!!!!!! I look forward to meeting it!!!!
No I cannot believe that Camden is going to be 2 years old!!! That is crazy!!! They are growing up so fast!
I love testimony meetings!!! They are always so good. I am glad that you got up. I know it is scary but your testimony grows when you share it. I am so proud of you for listening to the prompting!!!  I love you!!!! What are you going to do for your birthday???
                That bird is really funny!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love you all so much!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for all that you do for me!!!
